Replace Missing Teeth Beautifully & Confidence
Dental implants are clearly the new “miracle” of modern dentistry! No longer do healthy teeth have to be “filed down” for tooth supported bridges nor do people have to have destructive partial dentures that trap food. Full dentures that “flop around” so people cannot eat or talk comfortably and cause social embarrassment or discomfort can be secured into place, or eliminated completely!
My recommendations to learn if dental implants are the right choice for you: (from someone with over 30 years of dental implant experience):
First–learn the basics of dental implants and what are the dangers of missing teeth (more than you think!!) with the page on Health Dangers of Dentures and Missing Teeth.
Second–To learn how dental implants can replace missing teeth, check the sections on What Are Dental Implants, and Replacing Single (or few) Teeth with Dental Implants.
Third—Examine the choices for replacing multiple missing teeth and eliminating destructive partial dentures with our page on Replacing Partial Dentures–Dental Implant Bridges.
Fourth–Read about the four alternatives are to dentures or replacing a “terminal dentition” with 1) Dental Implant
Retained Dentures, 2) Implant Supported Dentures, 3) Dental Implant Bridges to Replace Dentures, and 4) the “All on Four” or Teeth in a Day” , Teeth Tomorrow method .
Finally—Read our pages on the costs of dental implants, dental implant mistakes and problems, and if the supporting bone is sufficient for dental implants (bone grafting) !

Cosmetic Dental Implants
Dental implants are not only safer for the adjacent teeth (not partial clasps or unnecessary tooth reduction for tooth bridges), but a tooth implant are usually more esthetic. When dental implant surgery is properly done the gums that “support the smile” can be maintained. Also the bone loss that occurs under tooth-supported bridges does not occur trapping food and odors.
The material we use not for dental implant crowns and bridges are also more cosmetic using no metal showing as with other tooth replacement options.
Cosmetic dental implants and tooth replacements are often combined with other cosmetic dental procedures such as porcelain crowns and porcelain veneers as in the example below where the back teeth were replaced with implant bridges, and the front teeth with veneers.
Safe Comfortable Dental Implant Surgery
Does the thought of having implants placed by a dental implant surgeon worry you—maybe a little scary? Dr. Gibbs in Glen Ellyn not only has 30+ years of experience in implant surgery, but uses the most advanced technology to aid in placing the dental implants safely and comfortably.
Dr. Gibbs uses advanced cone beam radiography to visualize the jaws in 3 dimensions to accurately measure the size, shape, and density of the bone. Not only can the jaw bones better assessed, but the 3d cone beam radiographs can be used to fabricate precise surgical guides for implant placement. Even more advanced–we can design the final crown or bridge using Cerec 3d technology, and then fabricate the surgical guide that would best work for the final restoration
Guided implant surgery provide more comfortable implant procedure, and more accurate final restorations. Surgical errors are eliminated, and the patient heals faster with a more cosmetically pleasing final result!
